Our Principles of Care
Freedom to Make Choices
"It is often believed that people with dementia can not make decisions for themselves - this is incorrect."
At Mount Hermon we believe that the freedom to make choices, no matter how small is important. That is why we actively seek resident's veiws and help them to participate in deciding their own level of care.
Feeling Valued
"People with dementia often feel vulnerable and need reassurance."
At Mount Hermon we take into consideration people's individuality, and try to make them feel part of our home. Our carers are taught to be kind, considerate and reassuring without talking down to residents. We encourage residents, families and staff to engage in conversations and small talk.
Dignity and Respect
"It is the small things that make a big difference to the way someone feels."
At Mount Hermon we treat people with respect and dignity at all times, this includes respecting their cultural values, using their prefered name, knocking on their door before entering and acting with courtesy.
Person Centred Care
"The ethos of person centred care is that everyone is of absolute value and worthy of respect no matter what their disability."
At Mount Hermon we believe, like many dementia specialists, that people with dementia can lead fulfilling lives and have a right to express themselves as an individual. We are dedicated to providing care for the individual, with detailed personalised care plans and operate a Key Carer scheme.
