Mount Hermon

About Us

Mount Hermon is a family run business which has been established for over 30 years, we are a care home specialising in the care of elderly people with dementia.  Wendy Gray founded and ran the the home until retiring in 2009 to run Bensons Guest House in Worthing, although she still visits regularly and remains a source of knowledge and support to management, staff and residents.  Mark and Jade Gray are now involved in the day to day running of the home, they have a vision of the future of dementia care and actively encourage and support ideas and suggestions that achieve person centred care.

Management & Staff

The majority of our carers are either NVQ qualified or are working towards an NVQ qualification.  However, the main qualities that we seek and nurture in all our staff are kindness, compassion, dedication and the ability to work as part of a team.

We have two chefs, who are experienced in catering for all dietary needs, a team of housekeepers and assistants, and a handyman onsite Monday to Friday.

Activities & Services

Creating opportunity and occasions for residents to enjoy life and experience pleasure is central to our aims at Mount Hermon, we organize events that both residents and family members can participate in (see our events calendar).

We have an in-house activities organizer who engages, encourages and supports residents, both individually and in group sessions, and residents especially look forward to Fridays, as its time for a 'good old sing song' with the music man.  In the upstairs lounge we hold reminiscence therapy sessions, watching old movies, looking at old photographs and items and talking about times gone by.

For that extra pampered feeling, residents can have their hair done or have their nails done.  In addition, a local chiropodist visits regularly and we use the services of a local domiciliary optician and a local dentist.
